How to Buy — Sourcing Guide - GoodTradeCenter

How to Buy on GoodTradeCenter

Buying through the platform follows a short, predictable path: find the product, confirm the specification, agree commercial terms with the supplier, then place the order. This page walks through each step so a first-time buyer can complete a purchase without guessing.

Step 1 — Find the product

Use the search bar at the top of any page, or browse by industry category from the navigation menu. Product cards display the key commercial facts immediately: the product name, specification, unit price in US dollars, minimum order quantity, the supplying company and its location. You can switch the display currency from the top bar; settlement is always in US dollars.

Step 2 — Read the specification carefully

Open the product detail page and review the full specification block. For raw materials this typically includes concentration or purity, packaging format, shelf life, storage conditions and available pack sizes. If a field you need is missing from the listing — a certificate of analysis, a specific mesh size, a custom fill weight — send an inquiry rather than assuming; the supplier can usually confirm within a day.

Step 3 — Send an inquiry or request a sample

Click Send Inquiry on the product page and state the quantity, target delivery date and any specification requirement. We typically respond within 24 hours. Where the supplier offers sample pricing or prototype service, that option appears on the detail page — samples are the cheapest way to de-risk a first order in a category you have not bought before.

Step 4 — Confirm the quotation

The supplier returns a formal quotation covering unit price, quantity, packaging, delivery time and shipping terms. Treat the listed price as an FOB reference: freight, insurance, customs duty and taxes are usually quoted separately unless the supplier states otherwise. Confirm in writing which Incoterm applies before you pay.

Step 5 — Place the order and pay

Spot goods can be added to the cart and ordered directly. The payment channels available for your order are shown at checkout. Keep the transaction record and never transfer funds to an account other than the one stated on the platform. For larger or custom orders, payment terms are agreed with the supplier and recorded in the order confirmation.

Step 6 — Delivery, inspection and follow-up

Delivery time is counted from order confirmation and depends on the logistics method agreed. For higher-value shipments you can arrange third-party inspection before dispatch — see the inspection service page for how that works. If the goods arrive materially different from the confirmed specification, raise a claim within the agreed window with photographs and, where relevant, a test report; our complaint procedure sets out the evidence required and the response timeline.
